• Local-First Storage: All your data (clips, templates, settings, AI chat history) is stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API
• No Cloud Sync: We do not sync your data to our servers or any cloud storage
• Minimal Data Collection: We only collect data necessary for license verification and payment processing
• User Control: You have full control over your data and can delete it at any time

Information We Collect

Data Stored Locally (On Your Device)

The following data is stored exclusively on your device and is never transmitted to our servers:

• Saved Clips: Text content you save to the extension
• Folders & Tags: Organizational structures you create
• Templates: Custom text templates with variables you define
• AI Chat History: Your conversations with AI assistants
• Settings: Theme, preferences, keyboard shortcuts

Data Transmitted to Our Servers

We operate a server for license verification:

• License Key: Your Paddle-issued subscription license key
• Device Information: Device ID, browser, OS, screen resolution (for 5-device limit enforcement)

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not track which websites you visit
• We do not monitor or record page content except what you explicitly save
• We do not access your emails, messages, or social media content
• We do not log your searches or typing behavior
• We do not collect precise geolocation

Anonymous Usage Analytics

To improve the extension, we collect anonymous usage statistics:

• Device ID: Random UUID, not linked to your identity
• Feature Usage Events: E.g., 'modal opened', 'template used', 'AI action used' — no text content
• No Personal Information: No names, emails, browsing history, or text content

You can opt-out anytime in Settings → General → 'Disable anonymous usage analytics'

Analytics data is sent to our server (text-turbo.com) every 2 hours and stored for 90 days.

AI Features and Data Processing

Local AI (Recommended for Privacy)

We support privacy-first AI providers:

• Gemini Nano: Chrome's built-in AI running entirely on your device - no data leaves your device
• Ollama: Self-hosted local AI server - you control the server and models

PII Protection

Before sending text to cloud AI providers, we scan for sensitive information (SSN, credit cards, emails, phone numbers) and warn you with options to use local AI instead.

Sensitive Site Protection

AI features are automatically blocked on banking, healthcare, and government sites to prevent accidental data exposure.

Data Storage and Security

• Local Storage: Chrome provides ~10MB storage per extension, isolated per-user
• Encryption: Chrome encrypts storage on disk (OS-level encryption)
• Network Security: All API requests use TLS 1.2+ encryption

Third-Party Services

• Paddle: Payment processor for subscription billing. They handle payment information - we never see your credit card details.
• Chrome Web Store: Extension distribution and updates.

Your Privacy Rights

• Access Your Data: All your data is stored locally on your device
• Delete Your Data: Delete individual items or uninstall extension for complete wipe
• Export Your Data: Export clips, folders, tags as JSON
• Revoke AI Consent: Settings > AI > Privacy Settings > Revoke Consent
